Waltz Pharmacy

December 2002

Dear Customers and Friends:

In October of this year, Camden Drug said farewell to an owner, Jack Higgins, Respiratory Therapist, leaving my family and I, to become sole owners. After 15 years of involvement with Camden Drug, Jack chose to focus his efforts in the Respiratory Therapy arena – a line of business that Camden Drug no longer provides – and he is now with Apria Healthcare.

My name is Dean Jacobs, R.Ph., and I am a third generation Pharmacist, from Damariscotta. My family began with one Waltz Pharmacy location on Main Street in Damariscotta, in 1948. It soon became a family affair with all members of the family contributing in some fashion. Since then, the Jacobs family has opened or purchased other stores, growing the total number of Waltz locations to four in Lincoln County.

With locations in Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta and Waldoboro, Waltz Pharmacy has a reputation for friendly, highly personalized prescription services, which began the day my grandfather first opened the doors in Damariscotta. I was eager to provide this friendly-hometown pharmacy service to other communities. In 1999, I partnered with Jack Higgins in the ownership of Camden Drug, Searsport Drug and Belfast Drug, until his recent departure.

A home office for all seven of these pharmacies, Waltz Pharmacy, Incorporated, is located on Elm Street in Camden. This office provides accounting, finance, accounts receivable, information technology, operations and marketing services to all locations.

My parents, Winton and Jo-Ann, who are actively employed at the Damariscotta location of Waltz Pharmacy – along with my sister Christie, and I, are all eager to continue the same level of service you’ve come to expect from a hometown pharmacy. You’ll find that even though the ownership of Camden Drug has changed slightly, everything else looks pretty much the same.

Eventually, we will look to carry the Waltz Pharmacy name throughout all locations. You will hear more about that as the date approaches. For now, please let us know if there is any way we can better serve you.

Thank you for your continued patronage of Camden Drug; “a member of the Waltz Pharmacy Family.”

Sincerely,

Dean Jacobs, R.Ph.
